When I first thought about this webcomic/ fundraising idea, my plan was to go to Haiti and stay at the Starthrower Foundation with Sharon Gaskell and illustrate my experiences there: working, meeting the kids, interviewing them, etc… Unfortunately, Sharon was unable to return to Haiti because she was here in Canada fighting a very bad E-COLI infection she got in Haiti a few months back. So I started to read all of her Starthrower BLOG entries to see if I could find a story to tell. And this is how ‘Home Visits’ came about… I’ve adapted a piece she wrote on the Starthrower Website called : ” A day in the life of an NGO in Haiti”.
She gave me hundreds of photographs for reference and I did my best to capture the heart of the story. Hope you like ‘Home Visits’.
